Holidays and Bow Ties

Holiday Parties, Events and New Year's Eve sometimes means black tie. Below are 7 simple steps to tying the perfect bow tie..

The key to the bow tie is maintaining symmetry on both sides of the bow.

Step 1. Set one end of tie about 1 ½ inches below the other end.

Step 2. Cross longer end over shorter and through the loop between your shirt and bow tie.

Step 3. Form front loop of bow by doubling up shorter, hanging end and place across collar points.

Step 4. Hold the front between index finger and thumb. Drop long end down over front

Step 5. Pass hanging part up behind front loop.

Step 6. Push resulting loop through knot behind front loop.

Step 7. Gently pull the bow at both folded ends to tighten the knot.
